I miss my 325is....

I die a little every time I get into my Ford Fusion rental....

And every time I see another clean E30 around town, I feel like my girl broke up with me...

Do I have a problem?

Stock cat , chipped 153 DME w/ stock airbox. Ran 87oct and needed a bad tune up :D

High combustion temps would mean hotter head correct? What should the average temp of the head be or is not a good indicator?

You could be right, the guy said he had to take the lows higher to make the highs lower if that makes any sense. He had it all day but had told me a firm price of $250 but it took him so long we agreed to $300. Maybe he had an E30 in the back. ha ha

Makes sense. If you increase HC's the NOx typically drops (enrich) and if you decrease HC the NOx typically increases (lean - high combustion temps). So it's like a teeter tot. The problem is your NOx levels are gross polluter status. I don't know if you can enrich the mixture so that the HC's aren't over the limit and get the NOx down below the limit at the same time. A new cat will drop the numbers down significantly without having to play with the mixture.

No, they will not mount to the E30 brackets nor will the E34 brackets fit the E30.

Just went to get the Mtech smog test for registration. Failed!!! Going to the smog shop is like going to the dentist. NOX 1570/1708 :(

wait, how the heck did you daily the e30 with lows and still pass smog? i know that any impact/ grinding of the cat. and it will break it up inside and thus render it useless.

happened to me. had to buy a whole new cat. because mine had broke apart and blown out of my exhaust. and it was new 2 ish years ago.

do you just run no cat. the whole two years, and then come smog time slap one on that has not been scrapped to crap?

Usually cats that fall apart that fast do it because they were a cheap junk $40 cat. They only "work" once for smog and then fail quickly after.

on a side note, took the euro plates off and i must say, the car looks much better. don't know why i didn't do it earlier.
