i have until the end of the week to get smogged. going to do an oil change and maybe swap out spark plugs since they make me misfire at idle and i think that is what is causing me to fail. otherwise, already ran gtp through the tank.

Don't you mean close the gap on the plugs until you don't misfire?

no they are only a couple months old and are the recommended plugs for my engine, they are already pre-gapped dual prong plugs.

i might of got it backwards. I was misfiring on the m10 with a .28 stock gap. opened it up to 34 & fixed my idle/ rev'd a bit nicer.

"Insufficient spark plug gap can cause pre-ignition, detonation and even engine damage. Too much gap can result in a higher rate of misfires, loss of power, plug fouling and poor fuel economy. It is always best to check the gap against the manufacturer's specifications."

Another consideration that should be taken into account is the extent of any modifications that you may have made to the engine. As an example, when you raise compression or add forced induction (a turbo system, nitrous or supercharger kit) you must reduce the gap (about .004" for every 50 hp you add). However, when you add a high power ignition system (such as those offered by MSD, Crane, Nology) you can open the gap from .002-.005"."

What brand did you install? Bosch? Denso? NGK? I've noticed the S50 and S52 run a LOT better on the OEM spec NGK plugs. More expensive but totally worth it.

I believe I saw a nice dark colored girl offering this service in the Craigslist personals section.
