Maybe they are connected to power through the Dome-light switch/harness?

id bet its tapped into dome light. Possibly radio constant 12v since its closer to window switches. Never heard of anything factory like that on a e30. Then again it could be some kind of short lol.

Picked up a 5 speed later model 260 getrag awhile back. Haven't put it in my plate style ETA yet. U think there's a lot I'm gonna need to convert my shifter assembly? Apparently the tranny I bought formerly belonged to a dude named Dave Lee or something, supposedly rebuilt and filled with new seals and all.

Unless that transmission has the holes for the crank sensors you'll have an issue there as well. Otherwise you need all late model shifter components. Dave is a good guy. His username is Karzrtoyz if you want to ask him about the trans history.

Sup guys, I'm having the hardest time getting my new engine into my car. Fucker doesn't want to go all the way in. I have an early model '87 and am putting in an '88 or '91, not sure; but it came with a dual-mass flywheel. I'm reusing my single and my clutch. The clutch engages, but can't seem to get the shaft into the pilot. I don't have an alignment tool but it looks dead on.

Are there any differences I need to know about between early and late models? Dimensions?

Could anyone come by today or Monday when it's not raining? I'm in Torrance. If I could at least borrow a clutch tool, that'd be great too, thanks

Assuming you are referring to the 5-speed guide shaft, that Takes some elbow grease to get on. What I did was stick the longest bolt I could with the shaft slightly in the pilot bearing and start tightening the bolt. The tranny will have no where to go except into the bearing

Maybe its a door switch that powers it on. I know on my 190 if I open the door then the radio gets power. Like some weird option so you can listen to the radio while your washing your car. Even listed on my factory options plate in the engine bay. Some also got switches that power the electric seats and windows with the car off.

So what can I offer to get some extra hands to help me put my car together tomorrow night? Did the head gasket just need hands to help put everything back together so Ivan get the car running.
