If i also understand this right, seems like you need to add a second spacer to the spline hub. You can probably get the one off your parts car if you can find it? It's a silver looking ring.

Not to steal any business from edwin, but there is a bunch of really good upholstery shops in the SFV Valley, Advanced Auto Upholstery on Van Nuys did a real bang up job for me once. And Sagona's Custom Upholstery in Burbank is top notch as well, he does all the upholstery on Jay Leno's cars, but is super reasonable.
