It was flexible, but it was kind of brittle, so when it would flex it would form tiny hair line cracks

Edit I didn't know the oem ones were super flexible either

Does anyone here do aluminum welding?
What does it mean if some welds there is allot of cleaning action
the frost is pretty fanned out, but on other welds it's pretty tight to the bead.

I have no balance control on this machine.

Having trouble finding good info on this.. What's a fair price for an m30b35? I want to swap an m30 into my car so I can build the m20 that's currently in my car.

Cleaning action refers to the positive wave of the AC cycle. The negative wave welds, whereas the positive wave, when the polarity is reversed, it heats up the tungsten more so than the aluminum, which has the effect of "cleaning" the tenacious oxide coating. The problem you're probably facing is arc length, not the cleaning duration. Keep the arc close, and clean the metal thoroughly prior to welding (a stainless steel brush will do to scratch it off).

Question to anyone who has IE posi-lock plates... is this really how big they are meant to be? I just cut out the slot and weld? And they should be perpendicular to the subframe bushing housing (not parallel to the RTA tab?

Hey dude. Yes, they are a PILE OF SHIT. I'm sorry that I got them.
They are meant for like a e28 or some other car but IE thought it was ok to sell them for e30s. Sell them. Get the shorter smooth ones.

You can't even get half the adjustment they are so long.
                        Totally stupid.

I have posi lock adjusters as well, not sure if they're IE, but they work fine.

                            That welder looks lovely. Congrats!

Charlie, you have a pic of the subframe before you installed it?
