I need a place to vent for a second. This is partial speculation, but I don't care right now.
Background: We (wife/kids) live in a "decent" neighborhood in Garden Grove. The area has slowly seen an influx of mini "mcmansion" homes, and everyone is friendly enough.
Story: About two weeks ago an older Mercedes 190e parked/brokedown across the street. The kid (18-22) who drove it, promptly started filling it with junk. By-in-large he began to live out of it. Initially, our surrounding neighbors were pretty patient, and we gave him the benefit of the doubt. I convinced my wife that "he maybe just needs some time to get back on his feet." However, as time went on the garbage started to pile up around the outside of the car and on the sidewalk. A couple of shopping carts appeared. The spot became a hazard, especially since about a hundred kids walk by every morning to get to school.
So this last Saturday our neighbor (who's house the car was parked in front of) called the police. The police show up and promptly tow the car off. Junk and everything still inside.
Fast forward to this morning. I get ready to leave for work and step outside. ..... Only to find my curb-parked Honda Civic is gone. ..... called cops, they send a squad car out, I file a report. The kid is no where to be found.
-----------------------
Extremely frustrated on so many levels.

I get it...so you think the kid stole your Civic. I'll admit the timing makes sense but you do drive a Honda Civic in OC. Did you give the cops a description of the kid you think may have been responsible? I really do hope you get your car back and it was just a joyride. I've had my CRX stolen once and found it 2 blocks away without anything stolen..not even my girlfriends purse on the floor. Thank goodness for kill switches."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Just got a call that the police found the car in a tow yard in Los Angeles?! No details yet.
