      Offset still confuses me @_@
I gave up caring cause I figured it'd be one of those "learn through experience" things...

Dude fruity pebbles are all I eat. I cant eat breakfast cuz its messes with my stomach so I just have some cereal an it's been either fruity or cocoa pebbles for like 10 years, depending on my mood.

Through simple math there is ;-)

So look at the image below:
            (Rim Width/2)-Offset=Front spacing

However if you are running VERY stretched tires, one might want to measure instead of the rim width, the outer wheel width as that will stick out more than properly sized tires.

Take a measurement from center to center and get you some.

yeah i know how to measure these things, but unless i compare with frontspacing on other wheels, i have no real benchmark. i'm just trying to determine if i can run adapters on a set of wheels, but it appears not. they extend about 1.2" further out than a bottlecap does, from inner mounting surface to outside lip. 16x7ish et~10ish from what i can tell

I was thinking about a reference point like you said, and IMO there should be a tool that mounts to the rotor/hub so one can measure this stuff easily. A slide calculator of sorts on a T? that will quickly show offset, and front and back spacing.

backspacing is pretty common, but i know immediately if a wheel is going to make contact with struts/suspension by test fitting. it's worse that a 7" wheel actually measures ~8" lip to lip, and makes fitting a little more confusing because i can't just subtract the backspacing from the width to determine front fitment. grrrr.
