Quick question. 89 I auto. When i touch the gas check engine turns off when im off check engine stays on? Bad afm?

Same problem I'm having. If I idle at a long light it comes on, but as soon as the gas is applied it goes away. I'm not in a big rush to fix it as it only happens like once a week. I should look into it though...
