I can unlock and jailbreak iPhones but to do a factory unlock you ask AT&T for the unlock code and they'll give it to you. So go through the process if you or your girlfriend wants to sell it because we're on Tmobile and need a factory unlocked iPhone. They may or may not give me the code since I'm no longer a customer. If you need a link to contact them via email I can PM it to you.

what about unlocking for t-mobile?

I can unlock it to use with T-Mobile via jailbreak but you'll have to wait until the next jailbreak comes out every time an iOS update comes out before updating. If it's factory unlocked it's permanently unlocked.

You could do a Gevey sim unlock, too, but I don't know much about that and I don't recommend it. But as far as usability an unlocked iPhone will only obtain edge speeds throughout most of the US except in limited areas where T-Mobile's network has access to AT&T's towers for 3g. It should be coming to LA soon and there's been reports of some people obtaining 3g speeds already but count only on edge until summer realistically.
