come on people. its no secret Arco has probably the worst gas out there next to small independent stores. it surprises me how many of you guys have disagreed with me about it lol. if you dont believe me then look it up. i've heard it everywhere from people to the news. why do you think Arco is so cheap. is anyone educated about this? Arco is the process of being bought out by another company, don't know off the top of my head what their called but they've said in articles that its cheap for a reason.

They are cheap because they don't have all the detergents that other companies do. ARCO was purchased by BP a few years ago who sold it to Tesoro in 2010. Tesoro also purchased Shell. 200+ arco stations are supposed to be switched over to Thrifty. There are only so many refineries and its common practice that they purchase the base gas from each other when they can't meet their individual demands and just add their own proprietary detergents. It sounds like your basing your opinion on hearsay and a news report that you can't remember any details about.

Actually i read the whole article on this whole purchase of Tesoro (just couldnt rememeber the name) I just didnt remember some of the finer details so on its not hearsay. Everything you just said could of been found on google within a matter of seconds. I just chose not to. Arco is mud. End of story.

I'm pretty sure Arco is cheaper because it doesn't accept credit cards. Relative to other cc-accepting gas stations it's not substantially cheaper compared to Chevron with a 5% cash back, for example.


BTW, I'll be back in LA/OC next week. Does anyone have a pair of obd1/2 cats for sale?

Water is added to their gas. I'll only run chevron or 76 in any of my cars even if the other is 15-20 cents cheaper.

Also most arco stations are old. That meaning their underground tanks are old ( rust ) old lines. They charge for CC or debit card use ( cheap fuks )

Plenty of reasons not to go there.

Costco and Vons buys the last of gas stocks. Reason why their also so cheap.
