well take the paint off yes. but I wasn't serious about polishing. a rough and scuffed but clean surface is the best for paint.

Actually, i have already had hand polished it to get rid of the casting texture. Almost looked chrome haha, but i was afraid it would get really dirty fast, so i decided to paint it. High temp somehow slipped my mind. I just liked the color.
Sand blasted it today, should give the paint something to stick to. Hate to redo work, but i didn't want to risk it being gummy, and peeling/ flaking.

So I changed the engine mounts on the car yesterday. Ok was a bitch but not as bad I feared. Didnt use the cherry picker and did it all by myself. Unfortunitly I was given the wrong tranny mounts so ill do those monday. Real oem was off on the part number. Maybe is back on the road.
