1st day back from a ~10 day vacation to Seattle. Its beautiful up there this time of year, but its nice to be back.
Car did a pretty good job as a hauler, carried 4 people and their luggage for ~4 days. No issues other than my idiot frient locking my keys in the trunk.
New trunk lock is on the way, but is there anyway to get it keyed to match the others? Or do I need to cough up the $$ to get one from BMW. I really dont want more than one key

it's on the side of the trans. I've done it without dropping the trans.
just going to have to reach your hand up there and see if you can get it or notDas ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!Comment

That was more of a move I needed to do at some point and the situation forced my hand to get it done now. All in all, was an extra ~$200 but I also didnt have to deal with the install or bleeding the M42 radiator, so money well spent.
Now I have a legit Spal 16" puller fan VS the other 16" fan that was mounted as a pusher. Im happy, but still have that stupid trunk lock issue to deal withSimon

these cars are almost 30 years old now (mine already IS 30) so they have a lot of things that will need to be replaced if they havent already been done. sounds like yours is one that needs love, treat it right and it will last.Simon

yeah i think its the guibo. i held the steering wheel in place and moved the guibo by hand. I'm thinking of buying the ireland engineering poly urethane gumbo. if that doesn't work then ill upgrade racks. i have some power tools.Comment

SOOOO CLOOOSE. WHY DOESN'T IT WORK.
With the new m20 in and everything assembled and connected, I turned the key aaand...
nothing. Starter doesn't kick in.
I have 12.03V at the battery with the key out and 11.74 in the "run" position. The battery was disconnected during the swap.
Is it at all possible for the computer to think it still has the blown engine? Does this need to be reset through the diagnostic port thingy hanging off the intake? Or does unplugging the battery automatically reset the computer?
Edit: I'm an idiot, I just remembered I forgot to connect the ground wire from the oil pan to the body.Last edited by Chilezen; 08-06-2014, 12:04 AM.Comment
