    nothing. Starter doesn't kick in.

I have 12.03V at the battery with the key out and 11.74 in the "run" position. The battery was disconnected during the swap.

Is it at all possible for the computer to think it still has the blown engine? Does this need to be reset through the diagnostic port thingy hanging off the intake? Or does unplugging the battery automatically reset the computer?
check your connections between the battery and the starter. the computer doesn't know that it had a blown m20 in it before.

a lot of people tend to "upgrade" parts without having ever experienced brand new, OE equipment. I wouldn't go replacing all kinds of bits, especially the ones that tend to transfer vibration to the drive, with polyurethane without knowing that you want/need it.

Thought so. It's okay, I just remembered I forgot to connect the ground wire from the oil pan to the body. It should be good in the morning.

Well as I pulled into my driveway last night my radiator took a shit. And it failed smog twice. Here's the failed smog report if anybody would like to see if I actually need new cats on the e34 or not.

You know what's not awesome? Cleaning out the car you're going to trade/sell and finding the new timing belt in the trunk. Sometimes I wonder how I find my own feet. Shit.
