I have was raised Christian and will die one. but what Will says is sooo true. "religion is mind control." i choose to believe it bc there is nothing that makes more sense. the shit that started the big bag had to come from somewhere.(if i believed in the that), and since there are no really valid missing links found, i cant justify evolution. plus i know how far we are from the sun and how much is shrinks every day and our earth couldn't support life with it being that hot here 30M+ years ago.

that may be the most out of context quote of the week
Various Laws - “You shall not see your countryman’s ox or his sheep straying away, and avoid them; you shall certainly bring them back to your countryman. And if your countryman is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it to your house, and it shall remain with you until your countryman looks for it; then you shall restore it to him. You shall also do this with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with any lost property of your countryman, which has been lost by him and you have found. You are not allowed to avoid them. You shall not see your countryman’s donkey or his ox fallen down on the road, and avoid them; you shall certainly help him raise them up. “A woman shall not wear a man’s clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.

The point is that much of the bible is not meant to be taken literally, or was more applicable to life 2000 years ago. Do you disagree?

I don't think this is particularly out of context since there's not much context around it.
22 “If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.

yes. those laws were set up in a time, where a woman had no right to land or make money. and wife was bought and if the man paid all that for a harlot and got some disease bc she was a slut, she was made an example of, so that others would not follow in the same. likewise if the man lied, he was force to pay something like 2 years wages. and then she wouldn't be left on the streets not able to make money to keep herself alive. the money would keep the man from lying. and the stoning would keep others from doing the same. tougher punishment but life was tougher.

So should adultery be a legally punishable crime today?

^Adultery is illegal in 23 states. None of this is the point though. You're now attacking Eric about religious things outside of gay marriage. If you're going to debate, at least remain on topic. I know you're trying to discount his credibility but whether the Bible is fact or fiction comes down to a matter of opinion.

why shouldn't it? it drives people to murder, because they were wronged.
