So what you're saying it you're against gay marriages not because they are two men or two women living together as a family but because it is defined as "marriage"? If the state didn't use the word marriage and instead used the word "ickyflactsumpatooty" that would be okay to gay people to be "ickyflactsumpatootyed"? Even though it is exactly the same except for the word used to describe it?

If the above were true and everyone was able to be "ickyflactsumpatootyed" instead of "married" would you feel the same way? All the LBGT community is doing to you is desecrating a word?

well. look at it like this. say you have 2 cars. one is a miata on is an M3. both are small, 4 cylinder, quick handling cars. and society started calling a miata an M3, bc they are nearly the same thing. then all the miata owners wanted to change their car's name to M3, bc they felt left out. and then the government stepped in and told everyone that the miata now to be called an M3. Doesnt mean it will ever been an M3 in reality. it's still a miata.

Originally posted by Danny View PostWell then why should it matter if it's called a marriage? Your last statement contradicts your car analogy. Because there should are laws that disallow people to be treated unfairly because of their sexual orientation. Along with your analogy, if the Government said we don't care what you call your cars as long as they travel 55 miles per hour on the freeway and obey all the traffic laws, we're cool with it. Even if it is 6000 lbs powered by a 3 cylinder 50 hp engine. As long as it follows the rules of the road there is no issue, because each car is held to a certain standard and is allowed to have the same positives and negatives of their own horsepower or weight or whatever.
but srsly the government should not be forcing one way or another on religious beliefs. nor should they discriminate against single people.
Society is trying to force a religious belief to be changed to what they think it should mean, instead of creating a fair system outside of a religious ceremony.

divorce rate is approximately 50%, I don't know why people want to do that. That means you have a flip of the coin if your going to lose half your shit or not, I would never take those odds. Don't know why the gays want marriage as it shows it's a failing system (only thing would be tax and government shit). If you get a 50% on your test you fail that bitch."I wanna see da boat movie"

Religion is a form of control for the weak minded. If you really feel like bowing down to a book of stories that have little to no proof to support them, well have fun. I prefer to think for myself and believe in myself. That said, marriage is more of a social norm than a religious thing. Sure, they often take place in a church, and are led by someone with some paperwork that says they are a religious leader of some sort. (Proof being I could get said paperwork even though I am atheist. How is that for irony?) The flip side to making a distinction between marriage between a man and a woman, and two people of the same sex is, its still a civil union, so since people say marriage is a religious thing, well, that offends me so I think marriage should be banned and everyone is forced to be in a civil union. Its the same thing but without the religious context being forced on me. it also doesn't discriminate between a man and a woman and a gay couple.
Religion is the most ass backward, hypocritical, closed minded invention humanity has ever seen. It was a brilliant idea by a very clever person a very very very long time ago as a form of control over those who can't think for themselves. Like the Matrix however, its still a prophecy built on a lie.
