UUC customer service is legendarily terrible. I've not heard a single good story about them.

the AKG shifter is ugly. yes the bearing is better. but the mounting bracket is 100% over done for any non-race car e30. the UUC one lifts in the cup but the bearings in the shifter make is very smooth. the weight is good.
but i'll never put a AKG shifter in any of my cars until they make it fit in the stock location.

you don't see the mounting bracket if you have the shift boot on. what's the problem?
the lack of bitch clip and rear carrier bushing slop makes it a clear winner IMO. The price is ridiculous for what it is, sure, but you can make one yourself. It'll also work fine with non-solid bushings, just upgraded poly ones, so you don't have to completely race-prep your car.
re: cup lifting, they give you a taller lower bushing and a whole insert thing to raise the pivot point.

the ball lifts up 1/16" in the cup. i can't figure out why they dont make the spacer bigger.

stock shifter does that too. it's geometry. you can just feel it more because of the travel and solid shaft.
we run a tunnel-mounted shifter in the lemon, currently with solid motor mounts (actually sections of steel square tube, long story) and stock trans mounts. we ran it with non-solid motor mounts before the current ones, and the shifter movement was absolutely minimal. how much do you think a motor moves in a turn, anyway?
