I like mudflaps on euro cars too. Did you get the euro-specific rears?

Simpler engine? NOPE NO ITBS
Makes more torque? NO ITBS
Much easier to maintain? DOESNT HAVE ITBS
Much cheaper parts? NO ITBS
Euro motor much slower under 5500rpm? DOESNT MATTER IT HAS ITBS
US motor is more reliable and makes similar power with same amount of money put into it? ITBEEEEEES
Euro motors just aren't worth it over here. S54 is a great motor but again valve adjustments, bearing problems, $400 water pumps, vanos bolt shears, $1000 unrepairable vanos block issues, yadda yadda. It's an amazing motor but they sacrifice a lot for that top end sing. The S52... Well you need to safety wire the oil pump nut. Done. Then put the money left over into a supercharger.paint sucks

you owned an ITB car and bitched about it 90% of the time. I'm just saying that your obsession with pointing out that US e36 M3s aren't "real" doesn't accomplish much. We didn't get the euro motor here, we can't get the euro motor here without a lot of hoop jumping, and I'm willing to bet money that if you somehow did get your hands on a car with one, you'd only be complaining about how inconvenient it is to have a motor that is fragile, has endemic VANOS issues and frequently needs expensive spare parts that you can't order from BMW because they won't ship euro parts to the states without a euro VIN because they're running out of them.
Personally I'm ecstatic they even bothered to make a motor that is significantly more powerful than the best M52 and significantly cheaper to run than an S54. I'm so ecstatic I now own two of them.

~4-5k for an itb stroker m20. or 10k for an s38 + BAR -.-

you can buy a whole car with an S38 in it for 10k.
Those ITBs are an unknown at this point, and that cost doesn't factor in a plenum, aftermarket ECU or dyno time to tune it (cause you're going to tune it, right?). Also, I pretty much guarantee that you'll need to relocate or delete your brake booster to fit them.
