Doubt the ones I just paid for are euro specific, guys ad says its for early e30s tho, so I assume they should still fit?

They'll fit, but the rears have a molded-in outline of the DB surround. You might be able to cut it off with an xacto if it bothers you.

cary - look good! hellrot, 3 piece RKs?
i dont have to touch them to know the difference. i've owned an ITB car, the difference is huge. drive a 330i vs an e46m i have, they are worlds apart. so in the same way we were screwed in the US when we didnt get the real m3 engine 1994-1999. the US s50 is not a bad motor at all. the US s50 isnt a Motorsport motor and that's all im saying. you of all people know what i mean.

ITBs are definitely cool but they are nowhere near the game changer you or any other euro motor sack hanger makes them out to be, lol.

              Simpler engine? NOPE NO ITBS
              Makes more torque? NO ITBS
Much easier to maintain? DOESNT HAVE ITBS
              Much cheaper parts? NO ITBS
Euro motor much slower under 5500rpm? DOESNT MATTER IT HAS ITBS
US motor is more reliable and makes similar power with same amount of money put into it? ITBEEEEEES

Euro motors just aren't worth it over here. S54 is a great motor but again valve adjustments, bearing problems, $400 water pumps, vanos bolt shears, $1000 unrepairable vanos block issues, yadda yadda. It's an amazing motor but they sacrifice a lot for that top end sing. The S52... Well you need to safety wire the oil pump nut. Done. Then put the money left over into a supercharger.

you owned an ITB car and bitched about it 90% of the time. I'm just saying that your obsession with pointing out that US e36 M3s aren't "real" doesn't accomplish much. We didn't get the euro motor here, we can't get the euro motor here without a lot of hoop jumping, and I'm willing to bet money that if you somehow did get your hands on a car with one, you'd only be complaining about how inconvenient it is to have a motor that is fragile, has endemic VANOS issues and frequently needs expensive spare parts that you can't order from BMW because they won't ship euro parts to the states without a euro VIN because they're running out of them.

Personally I'm ecstatic they even bothered to make a motor that is significantly more powerful than the best M52 and significantly cheaper to run than an S54. I'm so ecstatic I now own two of them.

i only complained about the s14 bc i HATE 4cyl engines. the throttle response was amazing. it handled well. the maintenance was ridiculously low. i did almost nothing to that car and it ran like a dream. i just hate the buzzz from 4cyl. my goal is to ITB my m20 stroker in the near future.

You can buy an S38 for the same price as building a M20 stroker with ITBs.

you can buy a whole car with an S38 in it for 10k.

Those ITBs are an unknown at this point, and that cost doesn't factor in a plenum, aftermarket ECU or dyno time to tune it (cause you're going to tune it, right?). Also, I pretty much guarantee that you'll need to relocate or delete your brake booster to fit them.

nope. that's why u keep it swap-able. swap engine harness, exhaust and intake every 2 years. not saying it wont be a pita. just saying i like weird shit

those ITB's are well know and tested. the guy did 275whp with those on a 3L setup. im sure you've heard of e21jps.

the s38 would need a rebuild. i dont drop in old engines.

Yes, I know of e21jps. If you talked to him about how drivable his 275hp m20 was on the street he'd laugh at you. IIRC that motor also had something like a 304 degree cam and $4k roller rockers.

ya and i dont plan on getting past 205-210 wheel. so it will be fine. i just want really good throttle response, and the normal m20 doesnt have it.
