So I drove a 370z the other night with a short shifter kit. The shifts were very short I didn't like it at all. I was planning on getting the z3 1.9 short shifter for the e30 but now I'm second guessing. Can anyone tell me how the z3 shifter shifts? Comparable to a e46 m3 shifter?

It's a good compromise between shorter throws and shifting effort. Not ridiculously short, but shorter than stock e46 m3 yes.

If you're around Santa Clara, my car has one and you're welcome to drive it.

Thanks will hit you up if I ever get down that area. Would you recommend it? I'm just afraid when I'm running through the gears I'll miss shift. done it before and it's scary. But that 370 short shifter was ridiculously short always had to double check if I was in gear

Stock e30 shifter works really quite good. On track for Fullraze as well.

If you are bored it's an interesting thing to change to a shorter lever but it's really interesting to install a longer lever; we fit a X5 unit to our race e30

Yeah :/ the PO decided to drill two holes there to shed off some weight.

Super pissed. My roommate (my best/longest friend) just bailed on me for living situation next year. What pisses me off the most is if he hadn't agreed to come down and live in san diego I would have moved back to norcal for next year, to save money.

Z3 shifter isn't that short. I'd recommend it, yeah, along with a shift linkage refresh. I also grabbed a DSSR and an AKG Delrin shift carrier bushing and it feels pretty solid, though the DSSR wasn't exactly cost effective. I have had people codrive my car at autox and have a hard time getting it to shift quickly because of the effort required but I think that is mainly due to the old worn synchros and it has never bothered me.

I just signed a lease and paid a deposit for the apartment. My buddy knows someome who will take over his lease, so he can bail. If I bail I have to find someone to take over mine, and if I bail then my brother will bail so he will have to find someone also. Just a whole crapshoot situation.

Well, signed the lease over a month ago, then had a month to pay the deposit. So we just paid the deposit and finalized all the paperwork all within the past week. If he would've told me like five days ago I could have bailed on it all.

Interesting, I have found the z3 shifter to be a bit too notchy. The shifter I got the chance to try as of lately however is the e60 545 or whatever the latest and greatest is. I must say it was rather nice. Granted this was paired up with a zf310, but compared to the stock shifter in my 328 I thought it was short enough without being too difficult to work with. Just my experience though.

I wish, however sharing a room with a chick would suck.
