I went from custom GC setup to H&R race/Billy sports and I hate the h&r/Billy setup. I wish I never sold my GC setup. Anybody who says GC 450/700 is too stiff for the street is an old man.

I was just about to ask about the normal 450/700 setup

I rode in it and it was far from soft, but it wasn't unbelievably stiff either

I wanted to do 500/750 or something along those lines

What LSD would you guys put in your M42 car?

                      I'm thinking about getting a 4.10 LSD off a 318iS.

I love the reviness but not 5th gear driving on the freeway for hours on end.

i would start by ridding my self of the shit engine in your car and the shit transmission.

                        then get a 2.93LSD

Going low is stupid if you screw up the suspension geometry. Going much lower than stock screws up suspension geometry. In other words, if you run anything lower than a set of H&R Race springs with mount that is lower than stock, your suspension geometry will go to hell. DO NOT OVER LOWER THE CAR! That is unless you want one that bottoms out over everything, and never quite handles the way it should. Yes you could jack the spring rates to the moon but then you lack grip, and just hop and skip.

Easy way to tell if your car is over lowered. Look at the front control arms, if they slope inward toward the oilpan, your geometry has gone to hell and the car is over lowered. If its level, its right on the edge of being over lowered, and if it has a very slight slope outward toward the wheel, you are good. You want the latter. Do a search on bad roll center and see why it sucks. It suckes even more with a Mac Strut suspension.

Obviously its your car and you can do what you want, but if you want it to handle well, don't over lower the car.

I'm not completely concerned with handling, I do like ascetics a lot and I have no experience with grip racing. As gay as it sounds I honestly just want it to look the way I want it to, and the spirited driving can come second to that. But most of the spirited driving will probably be dicking around with the rear end out in the rain.
