congrats! I remember the thread asking for help. Never saw the pics of the damage
Honestly haven't had time to get to it. This is my last semester of school combined with 40+ hour weeks. Once I graduate I'll devote time and money to get her fixed.
Having this alpine car just makes me want to fix my schwarz more though because "mine" is so much better to drive haha
that m42 will leave you stranded and penniless in

This has not been my experience.
Did exhaust, then did ITBs, then figured out the fuel tune with the FPR and wideband.
Since then I've been beating it like it owes me money, I've left behind guys who've done turbos and swaps, and the only time it's left me stranded was when the alternator went out.

this engine is just fragile, and it always dies on people when they have no money.
i've aslo driven 3 stock ones and have owned an mk3 2.slow jetta. they feel the same.
i do approve of an f20c swap

so, young kids who haven't learned how to maintain a car yet can kill an engine.
I drove my friends well maintained M42 with a lightweight flywheel, chip & exhaust and I enjoyed it.
The 318iS I have has a recently rebuilt head, its still slow. I'd rather drive my auto seta with all that torque.
Don't get me wrong its a fun motor to rev out while you literally go no where. You can feel the difference in weight between the two motors. It could be that the whole chassis is lighter being a 318iS.
