Legitimate question, what would the emissions process be like afterward and how many people would lend a hand and some garage space a few times? I'd definitely want to do it but at the same time, dailying this M3 in particular is not idealLast edited by CarsonE30; 03-18-2016, 07:14 AM.C6Z

Emissions are difficult if you don't swap all the bits (donor cars are awesome!) and if you half-ass it to look like a project car. If the car looks legitimate and well sorted it will pass emissions and the BAR. There's actually a guy in the bay area who did a M60 (M62?) swap in his E30 and got it through BAR. If memory serves, he had more trouble with brake boosters than with the emissions side...check the V8 swap subforum. Nice guy, very nicely done swap. Met him at a meet a couple months ago.Comment

The fact that you have the entire car makes it possible. if this^^^ guy can make a S54 street legal, then the 540 should be "easy" Totally helps with resale value also
I think the 540 is still OBD1Simon

It is OBD1 thankfully. I'll start searching for a roller/non running E30 then, I've been seeing a bunch of V8 swaps happen, I've just never done anything close to a swap like that so that's the biggest thing holding me back right nowC6Z
