Where is Will's house?
I am leaving from Fremont to northern Sonoma County. But not sure what time. Probably after traffic dies down.

it does not have space to store or work on a car, so the baur lives on the street and will be spending time in the shop. if i wanted my own garage again i'd be looking at least an hour commute to work on public transport, and right now it's a half-hour walk.

I'm trying to figure out where I want to live when my lease is up. I'm leaning towards staying in the Berkeley area, as I can get a house with a 2 car garage in Albany for the price of a 1 bedroom in SF.
However, BART is never on time, and it's a really obnoxiously long ride, and still costs $15/day when all is said and done, vs $25 for Bridge + Parking if I drive to work.
It ends up costing about the same amount, I think, but it would be nice if I could live in SF and keep my car in a garage with room to work...

yeah, my last place was in oakland and my last two tech gigs have been in the financial district so car commute wasn't viable. i don't miss the cattle-car that bart has become either. i became a regular at a couple of local bars downtown after work just to avoid the peak-hour crush- frequented one of them enough that they gave me a weekly DJ gig :)
now i can walk to both the job and the gf's place (she's a student at CalArts) so the car is just for fun.
but i got extremely lucky, finding a 15'x40' loft with like-minded roommates, for $1700/mo. that and free commute leaves room in the budget to fix/maintain things at a shop- i'm guessing anywhere with a garage in SF proper would be at least twice as much.past:
