two years ago in socal i got smogged right down the street from Castro's, because their smog tech wasn't there that day- that was a "this is an M3, right? wink/nudge" deal, at the 4th shop i tried.

this time, went to one near my house. friendly vietnamese dude with a chicken coop in the back, also runs a limo service out of the same building. he liked the car and wanted to talk about it a bit. we BSed for a few minutes and i asked questions about the smog procedure- i think he was more concerned about the coil-on-plug setup, because the computer told him to read RPM with an inductive pickup and he had to use something else.

anyway, he didn't really linger on the ITB setup. i think the E30/M42 combo is just old and rare enough that any tech not a BMW enthusiast is not likely to have a "supposed to look like this" mental screenshot ready.

that said- i did try to make it look like it came that way, a little. if your turbo setup involves a bunch of chrome pipes, blue silicone connectors, and anodized purple shit from ebay, you're probably gonna raise a couple flags.

this only happens if the weather is good and someone is offering free stuff. E30 peeps are cheap and dont have working heaters
