I always stand by what I say. Just do it Vivi and stop talking so much about it.

There is an upside to turbo'ing as well that most don't bank on. You can always sell the pieced together turbo kit "piece-meal" and get back nearly your entire investment if the parts are low use and low mileage. I see lots of Tial waste gates and blow off valves on eBay sell fir nearly new cost. Same goes for used turbos and such. There is always a new crop of turbo kids every year that will gladly spend huge money on bling in turbo goodies.
There are reliable turbos out there but typically they are designed by car manufacturing engineers and are non adjustable boost. So that drivers don't do what they would love to do and adjust for more boost than the turbo can reliably handle. I hear again and again that turbo guys just dial up more and more boost . Till boom! If you know that there will be a boom and are prepared no worries. I actually talked to an older gentleman today with a 1984 turbo Volvo wagen. He's owned it for 20 years and has over 300 k on the clock. Just had turbo rebuilt 3 months ago. That's 20 years of reliable operation!Last edited by e30vert; 02-21-2013, 10:54 PM.Comment

Dammit. I just don't understand why a low-boost setup put together by someone who knows exactly what he's doing and will be run on multiple cars will necessarily be so unreliable. I'm not just trying to be defiant/annoying/a pain in the ass. For every person on here that says not to do it, there's someone equally knowledgeable on m42club who'd say to go for it. I'm sure you guys can see it from my position. I've been talking m42 turbo's with MF DOOM via PM's for days, he really, really knows his shit and said 100% to go for it. You and danny completely advise against it (although Danny did say a few weeks ago that he wouldn't blame me in the slightest for doing it-I hope you still stand behind that:))
Frankly though, what keeps me going with cars is my childish enthusiasm for them. Deep down I love my little M50 car because I've built it how I want to and it's a blast to rip around in. Do what makes YOU happy and what YOU will think is awesome. Just know that turboing a car is not a cake walk.
If there's a time to do the M42 turbo route, it's when you're 16. Ask Danny. Is he 18 yet?paint sucksComment

I finally got that stupid bushing off and got the new one on. Tomorrow all I have to do is put the driveshaft back in and put the exhaust back on and I'm good to go.sigpicComment

I've had someone do that before like 2-3 weeks ago in the iS. Guy was chill, but he saw my iS and wanted to get it for cheap since it was beat up.
