Well, obviously it'd be much better if he can pull the head and stuff. He should check for burning oil/smoke too. It'd just be perfect if he could take the whole engine apart and rebuild everything, wouldn't it?

Those were just reasonable guidelines for checking out an engine in an hour. And seriously...i see you two are helping marco so much.

if the engine is still in the car figure out if it burns oil, if not you can check under the valve cover, pull the sparkplugs too see what kind of condition they are in, if they are burnt chances are its burning oil terribly.

take a compression checker and check the compression of each cylinder, thats the best way to get an idea of what you are buying.
if i were to ever buy a used engine i would probably take it all apart and put it all back together with new parts, because then you know nothing is wrong with it.

it would cost more than 500 bucks to get that engine here,......

Marco should PM the owner and find out. Obviously the swaps worth most of the money in the car, but he's selling the whole thing for 1750 obo...its at least worth a shot.

How are the Koni as opposed to the Billy's? I heard Billy sports are really good because their internal bumper is perfect for lower cars; are Koni's the same Specs? Which Koni shock set is better for running Race Springs?
