Actually the palm rule is urban legend. I have looked in to CA knife laws extencively and there is no law limiting the length of a folder as long as it is not a switchblade (as defined by the law) and it has a "detent to close."

I went to richmond PNP yesterday to grab one out of an '87 that had been there a week and the bloody thing was already gone...

I couldn't find one either so I just took the back half and put it on my big guibo side. All i needed was the back half anyways

Yeah, there are a few parts of CA knife law that I just don't get. Such as the definition of switchblades including butterfly knives.
