is there a medium differential that is between 4.10 and 3.73? like a 3.9 something?

Your age is showing
I know plenty of guys who run 17" with 235/40/17 tires and proper coilovers who don't have rubbing issues or problems with breaking stuff on their e30s. I am also on 17" and drive the piss out of my car without breaking parts. granted I am on rubber bsnds, but it's because the offset of my BBS was meant for an e24. With proper offsets and suspension, 17" is perfect on an e30.
Originally posted by BlackbirdM3 View PostThe only issue there being the wheels won't clear any sort of tire other than a rubber band, your wheels will bend and crack and you will hate life, not to mention the fact that the car will drive like crap. 16s are as big as you want to go if you value your fenders, inner fenders and want to run a tire wider than a 205. My car came with 17x8.5s and a 225 wouldn't clear the fenders up front and would rub like mad on the inner fenders at nowhere near lock. I have to scratch my head every time I see an e30 on 17s or larger. It also make the car look like a hotwheels toy.
Everything else sounds good aside from being really low, because again, you will rip the splitter off the car (been there and done that) and the suspension geometry will be entirely screwed up and will blow through its front travel like its got no springs at all, the rear will chew up tires like they are skittles. How do I know this? I've been playing this game since I bought the car. I think I'm finally getting close after making some one inch spacer plates that fit on top of the camber plates. In hind sight, I should have gone for inch and a quarter tall spacers. I'd like to bring the rear end up half an inch as well. Ultra low is the answer to the question of how to spend lots of $ replacing broken parts.
I honestly don't get the big wheels and ultra low stance look. It takes a really good car and makes it a total POS when it comes to actually using it. At that point, why bother?

My buddy Myster-E did E36 M3 front and M Coupe rear for around the cost of a 4 lug front big brake kit. Can't argue with big ole' brakes front and rear, beefier rear axles, and more wheel options. ;) I had the same setup on my old S50 E30 too. He's not running a super mega ultra stance setup either, 235/40/17 out back.

You're probably going to regret it since that S14 needs all the torque it can get!
Matt, do you know if a g265 will mount to an s38?

Since M10 and M30 transmissions interchange I imagine S14 and S38 would as well since they're just fancier versions of each one.
