V, i'm curious how you think you're going to get a turbo past smog check with STAR being the new standard.

i'm considering moving to reno when my lease is up because i'll be working from home anyway and fuck this shit.

I'll probably have to return it back to stock for smog. Is pay to pass not an option anymore with the STAR program? I'm not familiar with it, but I do know that my car is due for smog at a star station next month, so I believe I should be good for 2 years.

Vivek Star doesnt preclude pay to pas but it will be harder to find and my guess is more expensive

Damn, that's good to hear. I'll check with the local shops and see what they say. I was just trying to get a feel for it but $180 sounds pretty reasonable for labor.

Still plenty of people that do "special" STAR smogs. You're right though, good for 2 years.

for winter tires maybe. but i wouldnt run something that hard in the summer ever.

How poor? If you don't need new tires for awhile i would save up a bit more and get something better, yes like a z2 or rs3.
