I don't know about that, the suspension is putting a lot of force on that little bead on the shock but at same time the back end doesn't weigh much.

On the other hand, a lowered/slammed, "true" coilover with 350# springs in-series with Konis might be just a little too much for the rear shock mount to handle without major reinforcement

I know it's been something I've been wanting to research a lot, but think I'm finally coming to grips that it's not worth it

to do this mod requires very deep pockets. you must reinforce the whole shocktower and this is usually done with a full cage. not worth doing unless you plan on dropping 50k into your car.

If you must do bigger brakes do the sport or race kit. Anything else is way overkill. Any upgrade is gonna be overkill. My cammed m50 is great on stock brakes with PFCs, and believe me I use them.

I run for hours at a time on track with stock brakes and PFCs with no problems

PFC = performance compound?? What pads are you both using? I definitely plan on upgrading the pads until I have an extra grand burning in my pocket to get a wilwood setup.

One of the main reasons why Im looking into a wilwood setup is that they reduce unsprung weight. Im sure you guys know the benefits of rotating mass and power/weight ratios. Why else would I have gone through the headache of building the M52 other than the fact that its an aluminum block.

My car is a base model with no options and has lightweight wheels. All of these things allow me to have a full interior, stereo, and still have the benefits of a car that weighs less than 2500# even with a 12" Lukebox. I may even add A/C back into the mix, but I am really trying to avoid that one.

All of the things I do from here are going to get really expensive and serve no other purpose than shaving a few pounds here and there, but that wont really stop me from (dreaming about) doing it :D

The problem with going too short on the gears is not just highway cruising, it's shift frequency and gear placement. So say there is a set of corners you would normally use second in, and you put something shorter in the car, then second is too short to use for those corners and you are stuck using either the very top of second or the bottom of third. It sounds nitpicky but it's annoying to work around. The 4.10 I've got is great for track use but terrible around town. You never stop shifting and first gear tachs out at like 25mph.

I'd do the 3.25.

You could do this with a simple half cage running back to the rear towers with some extra metal welded to the towers and some cross braising. Aint gona be 50k no way.

Just saw a late model mtech 2 vert in some poppin red color looked like imola rot it maybe henna. Slammed on some aluminum colored wheels, maybe borbets.
