Yeah, the guy took it down. He was parting out his car, but decided to sell it as a whole. Had a glass moonroof for $75...

From what I've heard that it's a pretty bolt-on mod.
It's an upgrade, but that's like calling a fat guy "chubby"

It has barely any improvement over stock; maybe like .2 turn lock less.

If you want any noticable upgrade, get the z3 031 (611 and 575 work as well) or the Late model 330i rack; both are less than 3.0 lock and have great travel/turning radius. Eric was correct when he said that the z3 rack has a larger turning radius; seeing as the travel from the z3 rack is 10mm less total distance: that's 5mm per side which is less than .2" travel per side.

If we're really splitting hairs here, you could say a Z3 rack is "inferior" to the longer travel racks, but .2" is not even close to seriously killing your turning radius as much as people like to say. 9/10 I've seen people complaining about the Z3s radius, it's been an improper install

I like that the knuckle is not being taken past its limits. it fits in without spacers and is linear. but yes it is a hair too slow still.

I found it the difference of making a u-turn in my street vs a 3pt turn. that extra foot was more of a difference. lol. and it feels a bit twitchy on the freeway. the best i've had was the e36m rack, less bumper steer at intersections that have worn runts in the concrete and smoother on the freeway. however i did not like the feel at autoX. for me a linear rack is better for autoX.

when i change the rack in my blue car i may go for the e46 rack w/o PS.

probably cheaper to just fix it unless you have something crazy under the hood...

check your cap and rotor. and replace your spark plugs with Bosch W8LCR (super copper)

if you're valves havent been done, have them done.

Thanks for the tips I changed the plugs about 5moths ago.

Have to check the cap and rotor tho.

Might have to get a new cat.

Car has front end damage so i didnt drive it at all for a while been driving like crazy the past week before i had the smog done today, Just need it registered so i can park it on the street. dont have a house to store it yet.

what brand / type? if you used platinum you wont pass as they dont work with our cars.

if all numbers are high and you arent passing both the 15 and 25 then yes the cat is bad. the new ca legal cats make the car a lot faster as they arent all plugged up. but they delete the resonator to install them and the car gets droney.
