I'll say this, as someone who lives in Tacoma. Make sure you use the gated parking lot. That area is kind of sketchy. Pretty centrally located to Griots, James' and, Marymount.I don't know what the out of towners normally do but Myster-E and I decided to book a hotel room. I know James offers space at his house but it's minimal and I don't feel like sleeping on the grass. :D It's roughly 1100 miles from my house to James' house so we'll be leaving very early Friday the 26th and getting in to the hotel late Friday night. That will leave Saturday to relax and then attend the party. Sunday we'll enjoy the picnic and stay that night as well to travel home Monday.
If anyone else is looking for a place to stay I did a bunch of research and decided on the Best Western at the Tacoma Dome. Prices are reasonable and it's actually a decent place. They also have a gated parking garage which I thought was great. I used a corporate code (00322510) thanks to some online research that gave me the best rates I could find anywhere online.
Here's the hotel:

I should do this. last year some jerk in a truck driving on the shoulder of 5 threw up rocks and broke my headlight and chipped my paint. he broke my friend's windshield.Comment

That sucks! :( I must be lucky, I've driven mine ~16k miles in the last year and a half with probably 80% of them on the 5 and have only little chips on my bumper and a few on the windshield. Only protection is laminx on my euro headlights. (those 18wheelers and rain!)
That said, my front valance looks pretty dang chipped up and it was nearly chip free when I bought the car. The cost of dailying I guess
I want to make it my fun car and relieve it of some of the daily duty but that's not in the cards currently.
