Agreed. The E30 is one of the easiest cars to work on. Kicks the crap outta the e36 for simplicity.

Yes on an E30 you have to pop an extra ball joint per side on the front suspension. Some of them are a PITA (like Clark's), most of them pop out w/out much fuss. Engine-wise, M42 takes the cake for simplicity and ease, period.

On the E30 suspension in the front you have to remove both ball joints (4 total), on the E36 you don't have to remove either.

The M42 is just a Non-Vanos M50 that's missing two extra cylinders and has a really clunky intake manifold. not much different.
