Just remember you will only be in school for 4-5 years of your life, but your degree will take you somewhere for the rest of your life. Pick whatever school has the program you want. Location is secondary.

A friend who works at Seagate in Longmont told me they typically hire CSU grads over CU grads, all other things being equal, because the CSU grads are better engineers right out of the box.Comment

I agree with Brad. Ultimately you want to go to the school that is strongest in your area of interest. Csu and Cu both have areas of excellence, but areas Csu is strong in Cu might not be (and vice versa). There is no "better" school, just better departments.
Is csu cheaper to attend and live at? Yes. Is it better than cu? Highly depends on the specific department.Comment

Wow thanks guys, definitely was not expecting this kind of response. It's greatly appreciated.
FSAE definitely sounds like something I want to do and it sounds like I want to get started asap. I've had a little experience in welding/minor fabrication and it is something I very much enjoy it. It definitely seems like a very valuable tool for later on as well.
As for internships, my Dad talked to our neighbor does some sort of weapons design/manufacturing and he said they are always looking to hire ME interns so I might have something lined up for this summer, not to mention my Dad works for Northrup Grumman and he always has an ear open in addition to my efforts.
Like I said in the beginning, this is just the start. I don't want to make any brash decisions, that's why I'm asking for help and looking into it very thoroughly.
Again, thanks for all the insight!
