    Car stolen? Now what?

So I've own my e36 for about 3 months, yesterday my temp tag was expired so I went to go get plates for it. They told that car was reported stolen and now I can't get plates for it nor drive!
I called the number they gave me to call the state DMV? They said that car is roperted stolen and that there will b an officer calling me in the next few days...
Just wondering has anyone had a problem before? If so what can I do about it? I mean I didnt steel the car! It's under my name so idk what to do any help would be great

I posted here just because theres a bigger and more active community here than BF..

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

I always run VIN's via the local PD before paying for a car, you never know...

If you hold the title and bill of sale, then I don't see how the car could have been reported stolen by anyone but you.

if you already got the title under your name, i don't see the problem. if the PO stole it and sold it to you then it should pop up when you transfer it to your name. there must have been a mistake.

there is a chance that the car was previously stolen and recovered, but the police department never took it off the hot sheet... my buddy was driving his parents linclon towncar that had been stolen a couple years back and we got popped because the reg came back stolen.. so it could just be that

yep, there should't be a problem at all if you have a legitimate title in your name from the DMV. By law, that is your car, period.
