Car is a 91, engine is 92 M50NV. Nearly all stock except the intake boot (have an OE) and an airbox. I believe all I'd have to do is re-hook the charcoal canister back up.

Nearly positive it has an aftermarket cat but I'm not sure the make of it. Is Colorado a state where I can get something like a Magnaflow highflow cat welded in and be good? It could probably used to be replaced anyways. Also the OE m50 y-pipe was cut and rewelded, I was told in CA that they'd throw a fit over that. I'd prefer to be as legal as possible.

According to the official colorado DMV website, after 90 days I am officially a resident and then after that have 90 days to register my car. Sounds like I've got about 1/2 a year to figure it out. Should be good.

Really? It can't be that simple can it?

I use a friend's address in Colorado Springs for one of my cars. My others pass emissions fine. High-flows are fine to pass the visual. They only check if its there, they aren't particular on any sort of modifications as long as a cat is present.

To pass the Cat visual, you need to have the amount of cats that came on the car. If the car came with two cats, you need two. The good thing is, they don't have to be functional, you just have to pass the sniffer. You can gut the cats and as long as they can't see that you have done so, it's not an issue. If the tune is right, you can sometimes pass the sniff test with a gutted cat.

Wow so that sounds pretty easy to pass then. That's a relief. I'll be out in about 3 weeks to scout a bit, driving my CRV with my gf and the dogs for a long weekend. Hoping to have an interview or two lined up and scout some places to live.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll piggy back off this one. Sorry in advance.

I'll be working in Littleton for 6 weeks starting in mid-july. Reading through this thread has gotten me really pumped on what to expect. Unfortunately I'll only have a rental car so that really takes away from cruising around the mountains. I'd like to check out some Rockies games, some relaxing bars, experience some nightlife, etc. Any of you locals have other suggestions or events that will be taking place during that time period?

BMW-wise, Drive 4 corners of course!

Otherwise, what are you interests and that will help us narrow it down. Maybe a show at Red Rocks or a drive up Pikes Peak?

Again, I'm in a rental supplied by the Gov't, so technically I'm not suppose to use it beyond the scope of work and life necessities. Yes, I would argue Pikes Peak is a life necessity.

I'll look up Red Rocks, haven't heard of it before. Someone mentioned a tour of the Coors Brewery, but I'm assuming there are better breweries to check out. I'd enjoy some rooftop bar are just outside bars in general with good live music. I see there are some Cars and Coffee in the area. That should satisfy my car cravings.

Good jesus it's impossible to find a place to live. Why can't some of you people move away? lol. But seriously it's ridiculous. Seems unless you're the first person to call and have money in hand it will already be gone. Found a few really cool small duplexs but they were already taken. I REALLLLLLY dislike living in those bland, huge apartment complex's. So we'll be out for good end of this month and either staying with a friend for a bit or getting a long term hotel stay for a week or two till I can find something.

When I moved to socal everyone told me it was incredibly difficult here. The first day I looked, the first place I looked at I got in the span of like 4 hours. Guess I was feeling a bit cocky, lol.

The first place we looked at in Wheat Ridge was perfect and well within our budget...but by the time I saw it and called it was gone. Same with every other place we tried. Oh well. I'll find something.

we got sure lucky when we found our new place in Castle Rock ,we flew down for a weekend and looked at probably 20 houses in and around south denver area (one requirement was a 3-4 car garage which didnt give a lot of options). last place we looked at was only 3 car and 2 bedroom house and we think the reason it wasnt moving was the fact that it was only 2 bedroom in a neighborhood full of 4-5 bedroom houses ,but it was almost perfect for us except for the 4th garage space (but in this market you gotta make some sacrifices). we wont be staying here forever but as we only had a month before moving down this place will do and we will keep our eyes out for something else with no HOA and bigger garage/land.

we have since been told multiple times after being here for a month that we were very lucky to find a place at all as the market is so crazy (houses are selling only to those with cash in hand in Loveland/Fort Collins area at 20-30k OVER asking prices, yikes ,tough to compete with that),definitely havent seen a lot for sale around here . they sure seem to be building as fast as they can...

best of luck in your search
