Ah ok, my only experience is with old Chevy's, the V8 probably responds differently than an inline motor.

Maybe, although most of the non-raspy yet tough sounding V8 setups I've seen used x-pipes and resonators before the mufflers. The raspiest I remember hearing had oversized straight pipes into Flowmaster tail sections. Sounded a lot like Matt's car.:)
