Lol, to be honest the s14 is just part of it's charm. If bmw had a more technologically advanced, lighter 6 cylinder, during the development of the m3 they would have put it in there. Bmw had either an m20 or an m30, both 12v and heavy. There was the s38, but that still would have been too heavy. An aluminum block 24v would have been fucking insane from the factory in an e30m. It could have been a better car. Hate me.

but, you should know this, Honda has been one of the top racing and motorcycle engine manufacturers of all time - and just because their passenger car engines were meh doesnt mean they didnt know how to build some real cool stuff. They were one of the most innovative manufacturers in Formula 1 in the mid 60s before they dropped out due to a deadly crash
