You can also use a heat gun. The only thing that really takes the film of tar left over is mineral spirits. Works like a charm.

They are both petroleum based and leave a residue. If you are going to bedline it, I wouldn't worry about getting it spotless. You are going to have to sand the crap out of it and then clean with acetone or preferably a wax and grease remover prior to painting it.Last edited by Keith M; 10-10-2011, 09:59 PM.
