Time to fix PRO3 #35, again.

Well the life of a PRO3 race car is not easy. In the recent Seattle PRO3 race another PRO3 car went wide going out of Turn 6, 4 wheels in the dirt, when coming back on track hooked left and the front left tagged my door and rear quarter.

First we'll need to get it back to Auburn Foreign Car and up on a lift to see if the rear suspension mounting points were moved or tweaked. Hope we can save this car, it's been a real warrior.

    The car in better times:

Yes, ironic that the car is featured in June on the PRO3 calendar.

If the car ever sustained so much damage that it was deemed unfixable (or too expensive to fix) then we would swap all of the parts into a new chassis. I have a 1991 white 4-door 5-speed 325i just waiting on the sidelines for this scenario. We'd have a cage built, then move the parts over. But I hope we can continue to race this car for many more years.

4 years ago the front end was hit badly and the whole front clip from the firewall forward was replaced. That is why the title says "again".

Ouch, sorry to hear Lance. Here's to hoping it's just exterior sheet metal and nothing more serious.

Lance, Chris told me about this.

Good you are OK, glad to hear you are back on the track too, except for this.

I guess more specifically I should say we are checking the rear subframe where it attaches to the car at the edge, under the rocker panel. That is the bigger concern.

OK, so we got the car back down to Auburn Foreign Car and it looks good underneath. So that is good news.

Glad it's not going to be as big of a job like replacing the whole front end. It's a drag it had to happen at the start of the race season though.

Wow Lance, I was watching the video, and you were pretty lucky compared to the Miata that flipped! Good to see the car will be back, are you planning to be at Portland this month?

Targeting the NASCAR support race in late July to have the car ready.

Well, when you race a PRO3 car you tend to horde parts "just in case". Well here's a donor chassis that we recently cut the front end which was grafted onto Steve Shaefer's black #118 that had been front ended by a renter.

We'll use the right rear of the donor chassis to fix the rear quarter damage, seen here delivering to the body shop in Seattle.
