Its definitely fixable but, five bucks says the insurance company is going to total it. I say buy it back and fix it. Has the car made its way to a body shop yet?

The tech that was working on my E28 got it running today so getting that licensed and tabbed is also an option but reliability is a concern, we will see.
If you have rental car coverage on your policy, you might as well use it now. No sense in "saving" it since you've already pre-paid for it within your insurance premiums. It'll typically last about a month, then after that if you still need other means of transportation, then look into your other options (borrowing your sisters mustang, the E28 you mentioned, etc). But you've already paid for the rental car coverage so you might as well use it. It doesnt ding your insurance anymore or anything.

Hasn't been to a shop yet. I'm waiting to hear the official word on the total or not even though we all know it is.

            This is true.

What I would do is if you're borrowing your sisters car, have your sister write you a bill or receipt for the use of her car and you can submit that receipt and they will pay for your rental coverage to your sister for LOU.

Don't let them take your car if they salvage out your car.

You're better off buying it back and part it out and make more money.

That wasn't my point at all.

You have sun 90% of the year and then it rains, of course it's oily. You're also not going to be like, "Cool, it's raining, I can drive exactly like I regularly do" because you KNOW it's an oddity. An off occurance.

In WA, it rains 8-9 months out of the year. Then it gets sunny, you're not used to it. Then it rains which you're used to and suddenly how you drive 9 months out of the 12, in the rain, carefully, still isn't enough. It's enough for anyone to fuck up. Including the dick wads that claim they've never lost it a bit after a dry spell in WA.

And furthermore, there's no reason to be flinging shit or "opinions" on who's at fault where. She never said she wasn't. She said she wasn't following closely. Shit happens, she, everyone and I all understand this. There's still no reason to be a cock sucker.

Washington a little worse than some...I like how u are sticking up for her and everything. It's good and socal guys should'nt bother looking in our regional folder...but whatever shit happens.

I wasn't really referring to you with the shit flinging ;) No worries. Just clarifying. I know my posts can come off very vitriolic at times.

I’m glad to hear you’re okay, and very sorry about your car. Good thing you have insurance; make sure that you get checked for whiplash and other injuries. Many people don’t even realize that they’re suffering from whiplash until much later. Anyway, hopefully you get a good price; don’t stress too much though, in my experience good car insurance companies don’t try and rip you off, contrary to popular belief.
