Not true at all. You can fight with them, get what you want for the car and still get to keep a clean title.

Yeah it's really tough to say because it hasn't rained here for over a month. There were a lot of sliding rear ending accidents yesterday due to this. As you may know, as the roads become oily if it doesn't rain often it just builds up. When it finally rains all the oil is lifted out of the asphalt and brought to the surface creating a slippery surface that is sometimes worse to drive on than black ice. No tires could have stopped the car in any distance in that situation. She didn't even receive a careless driving ticket or anything because of the road conditions.

At least the truck didnt have a hitch (or at least it doesnt look like there was a hitch from the damage in the pictures). Good luck with your insurance claim.

So if it hasn't for a while there and the roads become oily, isn't it common knowledge to keep an ample amount of distance between you and the car in front of you? I thought that was just standard driving knowledge that you don't chance it on the first rain.

Either way, she rear ended the truck she will be found at fault and needs to learn what I just said in my above statement.

She could have just not been paying any attention, but yes, there is no one to blame but yourself.

You had ground controls with koni adjustables, correct? What spring rates? how much shipped to 97303?

                      Oh no :/

Hey, I am an insurance agent! I have worked with Progressive in the past. Call me (503) 746-6904 and we can chat about your options. First, you are entitle to one doctors visit and then you can go from there. Now, as far as your vehicle.. do you have a state amount on your policy? or just the full coverage? What is your collision deductible? and do you have all the documentation of any upgrades for your car?
You know who this is..its me snitches!

You absolutely need to call Jeff Butler at Haury's Collision in Lake City. Trust me, he knows how to get the most out of insurance companies.

If the the insurance company does pay to total it, you are going to have a branded title. You may be money ahead to find another straight shell, and transfer what you can from the old one to the new one, or repair it yourself. Here in lies the problem with insurance for older/modified cars, unless someone springs for the collector insurance, the company doesn't care and will total it. What ever you decide, you will want to upgrade your insurance so that the next time this happens you can have your insurance based on an appraised or agreed upon value, rather than market or KBB (as much as we all think highly of our modified E30's, those mod's go against the value unless you have documentation to install cost from a shop.)

I say start looking for straight shell to transfer as much as possible from the shell.
Do you know from experience or are you just making ass-umptions?

I can tell you for a fact that your comment is totally incorrect.

                                Sparkle,

Everytime I see your name, it reminds me of the R&B singer back in the 90's that R. Kelly found, LOL.

Anyways, let me know if you need some help dealing with Progressive. I used to work for Safeco auto claims and knows the in's and out's of auto claims. Plus I have numerous experience dealing with Progressive on terms of working claims for Safeco insured and also personal deals with them since they were my previous carrier of auto insurance.

Back in 2003 when my WRX was stolen, it cost the Progressive $18k to restore my vehicle to what I had invested in it. The claims rep made a mistake and I took his ignorance to my advantage and my WRX didn't get totaled. They spent more money in fixing my car than salvaging it.

In 2006-2007, my 2000 RS-TI was stolen and they only wanted to give me $10k but I extracted $17k+ by fighting them.

Progressive is very lenient and has a high threshold before they start totalling out your car. In your case with the e30, it will be totaled but you can prevent this in many ways by getting your vehicle appraised and valuated.

It's all in your policy that covers you. It's not the insurance company to inform you because you have to be informed yourself by reading your policy. Technically they're not taking advantage of you if you don't read your policy and it's not in their best interest to explain coverages to you unless you specifically ask.

There are state and federal rules and regulations to insurance governance and it will come in handy.

Anyways, if you need help let me know. I don't work in auto insurance anymore but still work in the insurance industry.

                                Mike
