Hello all,
I am considering going a different direction with my car. What would be included is absolutely everything you would need to swap a beastly supercharged S52 into an E30. I bought the car a little over 2 yrs ago with the S52 installed but only test miles on it. The engine had 83K on it with a new top end and a new oil pump (welded nut). I've been driving it 2 1/2 yrs working out all the bugs, and in that time replaced the water pump and alternator with new heavy duty Bosch items, replaced every conceivable gasket, did a Dr vanos kit, swapped in a Euro HFM/TRM chip/injectors, and lots I'm forgetting. In that configuration the car made 233hp at the wheels (dyno sheets available (uncorrected was 242hp)). Last Fall I purchased an Active Autowerke Stage 1 Supercharger kit, which included a Rotrex blower ( ~7lbs boost), oil cooler, resevoir, lines, chip, and injectors. With the SC installed it made 299hp at the wheels on the same dyno (carb connection in Kirkland), but had some detonation at the top end, so I've since gotten a different chip. It no longer has detonation so I presume it makes more power, but I have not had it back on the dyno. A month ago I blew the head gasket between cyl 5 and 6. Kevin and Tom at KD Motorsports took it all apart, inspected it, and sent the head out to be checked. The block was fine but one of the pistons has a couple of small dings on top; the insulator on the spark plug fell into the combustion chamber and bounced around before I shut down. The head checked out perfectly but it was decked to ensure it was absolutely true, and then the engine was reassembled using ARP head studs and an MLS gasket. There is now a new radiator, thermostat and temp switch, and the oil filter housing has aeroquip provisions for an oil cooler, although it is just a loop at the moment. I've been driving it a month and oil temp never gets above 200 even in stop and go traffic. Water temp never goes above 3/8 on the gauge. Does not leak a drop of oil.
So, why am I selling? Basically, I am tired of breaking things. With this much power I have already had to replace an axle and three guibos, and the diff is making noise. Right now the stock clutch/pressureplate is beginning to slip in second gear at 5000rpm if the pavement is dry (used to spin the tires), so it really needs to have a sport pressure plate and sport clutch installed.
What would be included: everything.
1998 S52 engine with 96K, new top end w/ARP headstuds & MLS gasket
OBD1 swap
Euro HFM
New water pump
New alternator
New oil filter housing
all new gaskets
New plugs
New thermostat, hoses
Dr Vanos vanos kit
Active Autowerke Stage 1 Supercharger kit
30 lb injectors
Supercharger oil cooler w/E30 mounts, oil reservoir w/E30 mounts
ECU with custom chip
New belt
New tensioners
all Supercharger plumbing to fit an E30
Headers (new studs and gaskets)
Full custom 2.5" exhaust w/cats (passes with flying colors). Finished with a gorgeous black Vibrant twin outlet muffler.
New M42 radiator w pusher fan wired to temp sensor (never even gets to halfway on temp gauge)
Engine mounts
G260 5 spd w new UUC Evo3 shifter mechanism (shifts beautifully)
Tranny mounts
Price: $5000. Basically, $2000 for the Supercharger kit and $3000 for the engine and trans and absolutely every last thing needed to install this in your E30 (although I do recommend a sport pressure plate and clutch)This pic is prior to the new radiator:
