ive seen a few 944s around and there is always a issue with transmissions and the "power tube" i think its called? they (porsche owners) dont call it a drive shaft. with the transmission mounted in the back of the car, apparently it has a lot of issues.
ive noticed this is the 3rd thread youve started regarding finding a car. might throttle it back to one thread and just post in it. what happened to the white car in the other thread you posted?Comment

i snagged an alpine on black 91 325 vert w plastic bumpers from pdx craigslist a few weeks ago. VERY clean, for 3k.
they are out there, if you're patient, and willing to sit up late, waiting for the right thing to pop up.
