    Which Would You Choose?

Totally hypothetical situation, to start. I just want to hear what you all would choose.

I'm sure most of you have heard of Turo by now. Basically like an Airbnb for cars.

Anyways, say you wanted to purchase a car to then offer on their site as a rental.

You wanted to make sure you bought a car that was interesting enough to offset the trouble of dealing with renting a car to someone (so you could enjoy it while it wasn't rented), but not something so cool/interesting that you couldn't bare to see anyone else driving it.

Assume you had limited to no worries about the insurance aspect associated with using their services. Also assume that the car could rent frequently enough, and for enough money, to fully offset your "payment" (whether you actually have a traditional payment or not) within limits (i.e. buying and then renting a Lamborghini is too extreme for this scenario).

What car would you pick? E60 M5? A pickup truck? A Nissan Juke?

    * I completely understand that this is a car forum and all of the input may be skewed, but I am still interested.

Not something too expensive so I could pay off the car quicker and start pulling a profit, but not boring like a corrolla or soul. Small car would be a civic so or a gti, bigger would be an a4 or an Acura, SUV Acura or BMW if the price is right.

You just want something that someone sees and says oh that will be fun to drive. No one wants a damn fusion

You want other people beating the tar out of your new pickup..... Ummmm NO, and you can rent those for 19.99 for 2 hours from home despot, or 39 bucks a day for a 1/2 ton from enterprise.

Juke, WHO THE FUCK wants to drive that, LET ALONE PAY TO RENT IT

Obvious answer is obvious, e60 M, but then YOUR maintaining a V10 M car for others to beat the snot out of...... I think you might want to do this with Mustang, Challenger, Camaro, Lexus ISF , 200 landcruiser, Infinity QX80 (AKA Nissan Patrol in US market), Up coming loaded Jeep Wagoner or something like that

Honestly, I don't understand why anyone would buy a car and list it on one of these car rental sites. Everyone knows the fastest car on the planet is... a rental. I just don't trust people not to beat the absolute shit out of my car.

yah im with rturbo 930. Someone could beat the heck out of your car and you would never know until it prematurely explodes a few months later.

At least with air bnb you can (in general) physically see damage before your renter leaves.

If its a money making scheme though, surely youd go for an SUV. If its for people on holidays then they got loads of shit to haul around and a family too.

I thought about doing that. I would only consider a Honda or Toyota.

A Juke for sure. Not likely to break down very often (modern Japanese car), is FWD and there aren't enough "gerbils under the hood" to do much "sporty" driving

I've used Turo in the past, get a car that people will be looking for when they come to where you live for vacation. Example: someone headed to South Florida/SoCal will want a expensive looking convertible, people headed to Utah would want something AWD and rugged to go exploring with, etc.

People coming into Flagstaff are likely either coming to go to the Grand Canyon with their family, or to go up into the mountains for exploring/skiing. I would get a smaller SUV that seats 5+ with AWD for your situation.

Honestly, it depends where you are renting the vehicle. If you are near a beach town or a lake town, I'd get something that was big enough to haul some stuff but small enough that anyone could drive it without a CDL. Thinking something like an X1. Big enough to fit 5 people with a cooler in the back, but small enough to parallel park pretty much anywhere.

If you're in a city, I'd do something like a 3 series or a c-class where someone who wants a luxury car can have it without paying a huge upcharge at a rental place.

stealth camper, I would want to be able to rent a stealth camper. A used service van that has been converted so no one would know when you are sleeping on the street parked in front of your friends house.

For awhile now I have been on the lookout for a decent price on an Alaskan camper for my truck, that is another one I would like to be able to rent. A 4x4 with an Alaskan camper would be another great vehicle to be able to rent.

Anybody can go rent a regular small RV, but a specialist RV like the ones I mention, I think there would be a good market for those, and I would outfit a stealth camper similar to how an Alaskan camper is set up.

I have a 1996 dodge cummins extra cab longbed that outfitted correctly would be awesome to take to Alaska or Mexico, or even further. Able to traverse roads a normal camper would not make it whether urban or rural...

Also E30 and Mini, any car that you kind of want but dont spend the money on because it is just not a practical point A to B car I think would do well

That is a seriously awesome build. I keep wanting to do something similar to a Vanagon Syncro.
