ok, so i have my bottom end sitting at Ryan G's shop ready to go. I went with metric mechanic 86mm pistons, s52 rods, and eta crank in hopes of making a nice solid 2.8l stroker. also plan on going with a miller MAF/chip, BBTB. this will be a street car, but of course want as much HP as possible, but i think i care more about lower end HP as opposed to high end so I'm not sure which cam to go with. I've read different things all over the place. the other thing is that the car will have AC and i will be using it alot. that said, i dont want my car to stall out, when i turn on the ac at idle, or have to keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it alive. So, which cam do you recomend? Ill be looking at getting one of these heads within the next month.

Sorry for the late reply, had a busy weekend!

The best cam for a street car that needs to retain a decent idle is definitely going to be the 274. This is our favorite all-around cam and the majority of the heads we have built are 274 equipped.

        Thanks,
        Matt

+1 for that, VERY street-able cam.

Will you guys extend your line up to other engine heads? Cough M42 Cough

Of course I find what I am asking after I post the question. So then I will ask has there been any work to M42 heads yet?

We've done one M42 head for a customer.

It's something we're happy to do but we have no access to cores.

Ok will have to ponder this. As shipping a head to and from the US is about $400 so it is not a cheap task.

                Cheers

                  Matt:
Noticeable improvement with this? I was thinking of rebuilding my spare 885 casting.

Could I just buy the port/polished casting alone, and build the rest of the head myself? Just curious... I'll be taking me head off fairly soon and wanted to put a rebuilt one back on.... hmmm

Oh, and are you buying cores, or do you have such a stockpile, you don't need to? haha

Yes, you'll see some gains. Obviously the more supporting engine work you've done, the more power you'll get out of it. We've done a few of these on top of the Super Eta bottom end and they are great!

We could sell you just a ported head casting but I would have to get back to you via PM on pricing. I'd prefer to at least sell you a head with valves and springs installed so I know the valve job was done right though.

We're always interested in cores but generally the cost of shipping them to us kills the deal.

I have a leaking head gasket on my 89 iX -

I am wondering what gains I would see with swapping this for the OEM head.

Do you know if the iX has this 885 head?

And, can one of the stroker (2.7) engines be made to work with the iX oil pan, etc?
