Fs: M3 instrument cluster 61k miles

Guys selling this M3 cluster. Removed from an '89 at 61,377 miles. Was removed from a buddy's totaled car 15 yrs ago. Has the SI board external battery holder modification but should probably need new batteries. It uses regular rechargeable AA batteries. I need $1000 + shipping which seems to be the going rate for these.

Put on S14 on Facebook, I sold 4 of them last month, a little cheaper, but they sold fast.

Amazing what these m3 goodies are going for now. I can remember before the huge uptick in e30 m3 pricing for full vehicles getting several of these for $200 or so each. Same thing for the 5 lug swaps. I sourced my entire setup for something like $1200, then added coilovers and that still comes in less than what they sell for now without shocks/springs.

      GLWS, looks minty.

mbonder - Actually, the 5 lug swaps prices have come down a bit from the high thanks to bmw making the strut housings available again. The question is how long will they be available?

Still the strut housing are about $1600 each, plus the tie rod lever NLA which kind screws up the whole situation if you looking to piece together the suspension.

e30rida - I think it would increase the interests if remove the battery holder modification and put it back to stock, regardless of the si board. Many of the m3 part buyers are strange that way.

            Glws buddy!

Strange, I've never seen an M3 cluster with the "///M" logo above the VDO vs replacing it. Usually doesn't say VDO at all. Pretty interesting anomaly if it originally came that way.

Nothing but 100% original and stock, I am one one of those that likes stock stuff even if it doesn't work.

I don't think that's the correct M3 coding plug either. In addition, it's stamped 12 of 86. Me thinks 2mAn is correct.

Is the //M recessed or is it a sticker?

It's a 325i front case and coding plug (based on the coding plug, which is a 325i part), installed on the other half of an M3 cluster. Too bad. Still worth quite a bit, though.

I just noticed, the ///M is supposed to be where the VDO is, still worth a nice chunk of change.

The M logo is recessed as in the other and is not a sticker, it's the same flat recessed piece as the others without the VDO, I thought too it was odd. Maybe it's an early cluster. The coding plug was removed at some point and I just used the first one I got from my stash. If someone knows the correct number I'll change it for the correct one, also have tons of old SI boards, can change it out as well, just didn't feel like cracking it open. What else??

IIRC m3 wouldn't have a check engine light, this looks like it might
