Not to discourage anyone needing a dash but I bought a crack free dash recently, installed it in a project car and without ever driving it, it developed cracks within several weeks.

Fortunately the 2 we swapped in to the cars we drive are still nice but next time I'll look for a new one.

          Go to a Spec e30 race..... ;)

Not many kids, and not many Miatas, but you will see flocked dashes (Spec is required to have a stock dash pad in place).

Flocking a dash can be good way to fill in cracks and coat a beat dash, but IMO only by somebody who has done it a lot and knows what they are doing. On a stripped out race car that is the way to go, it helps reduce glare too, and the sides of the dash are already hacked for the roll cage. BTW the dashes go bad by both cracking and bubbling. The New dash I am looking for is intended for an E30 M3, so flocking is definitely not the way to go in this case. I'll give it a few more weeks and see. Worst case I can just pull out the mintie dash from the E30 I'm selling and swap it with the beat M3 dash...then I could go ahead and flock it.

              swede dash may be solution

I instructed my detailer to fill cracks and sand entire dash. I reupholstered seats with leather sides and back and swede centers. I wanted to keep dash original ....but i could not justify over 300 for a used dash that is prone to develop cracks. The installer using heavy micro swede dark chocolate brown will stitch a dash cover in M style then glue to dash. I will then remove headliner and match center seat color using micro fiber cloth. the swede will in my opinion look better than original and defiantly be more attractive than flocking I will post pics when he is finished , i'm broke, homeless, without a wife and sleeping in the car.

Buying a used dash isnt necessarily going to crack weeks after instalation. I've had many and have 4 currently that are not cracked. Climate has alot to do with this issue. I've got two exceptionally nice dash boards I've been saving. Shipping them is expensive though.

Theres a place called Just-Dashes. They can likely make it "brand new" but it will cost you some good money... but not too far off of what the brand new BMW dashes would cost you

TBH, it's worth it to me to check in to Just Dashes if BMW refuse to rerun them again. It's one of those things you see every time you drive the car. So the OCD is real..

What is ironic is that I have dash covers for all my cars so it's not like I even see the dash, but it's always in the back of my mind. Reflective windshield covers work well too to try to delay the inevitable.

FYI, I just contacted just dashes and sent in pics for an accurate quote. Took a couple weeks to get an answer and when I did, it was $2200-2500 plus the trip each way. Oh, and their turnaround time is 4-5 MONTHS. They do great work and their results look fantastic but as much as I'd love mine to be pristine, approaching $3k for an E30 dash is insane. Makes those thousand dollar repros look like a bargain. Add me to the list for a group buy if that ever materializes

I think $1000 buys you an OE dash. If they are NLA today doesn't mean they won't be available down the road.
