How did you guys install the front springs? What kind of spring compressor did you use? I rented one from O'Reilly's but it doesn't work.
You probobly have the adjuster on the bottom installed upside down. Flip it so the threads go down and aroung the strut housing. You do not need a spring compresser to install the springs.

I got my vert kit!! The address on the box for shipping to me didn't match up at all but at least the mailman had my name and address and was able to figure it out. I got it in like 5 days. Super fast shipping!

5 days? thats pretty ridiculous! im stoked to get mine when they're ready
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
Just had a customer call asking about Vorshlag camber plates for these $400 coilovers, so I thought I'd take a look at the thread. I asked him some questions about them, but the pictures here tell me a lot more.
He thought they came with standard "coilover" springs, but from looking at the pics its obviously a tapered spring made to work with the OEM upper perch, so it will need to use OEM style upper spring perch. Bilstein does this on some of their PSS9s, too. Since we supply new upper spring perches with our plates (BMW part with welded bearing ring, with press-fit sealed radial bearing and bushings matched to the strut profile), that's good to know. We do make an upper perch the OEM E30 spring (pictures shown below for clarity).
Since we build our spring perches to order, and there can be dozens of variations from strut brand to brand (with respect to strut shaft profile diameters/lengths/shoulders), so we'll need some shaft measurements to be able to make them correctly for these struts. Normally we just need to do this once, but since these are made where they are, I don't expect these measurements to stay consistent, so we'll ask each JOM customer to measure their set. We always do this for Chinese built struts, since the specs/dimensions (and suppliers) change often. Since all E30's used the same ID front OEM springs, at least that much is known (FWIW: there are 3 OEM spring inner diameter sizes for the E36).
Fair warning: our camber plates will cost more than this entire shock/spring set-up. That's "Made in America vs Made in China". Not knocking it, just wanted to warn people. Most people that buy $400 coilovers aren't buying camber plates, but sometimes it happens.
I usually use the Vorshlag/AST Rear Adjusters, Nylon Bottom mounts and their Hyperco springs.
Yea, we get these requests when people have shock kits without adjustable ride height platforms out back (or poor ones). For an E30 we sometimes use a 5.5" long spring, if ride heights are going to be kept high. Hyperco makes makes a 60mm ID spring in 3 different rates in that length, for us and AST. Lately on Z3s and E30s we tend to use a 5" long spring, for substantially lowered set-ups. Hyperco doesn't make a 5" long spring in 60mm ID, but they do make a 5" x 2.25" ID, in dozens of spring rates. We re-machine the AST ride height platforms on our lathe to accept the smaller 2.25" diameter rear springs, too.
Again, this set-up shown above of Hyperco springs/AST spring platforms/Vorshlag upper alignment platforms costs more than these coilovers, so maybe not a lot of interest in this thread. Just replying to that quoted shout out.
Does anyone have the measurements on these coils? I am trying to order GC Camber plates and they can't find the appropriate spacer without the specs..
Yep, your will have to measure each diameter (in mm) and length of each step (inches or mm) and each diameter transition (45° taper or 90° square shoulder). GC will need to know this to make plates that fit, just like we would.
Thanks for the reply Terry - I ordered a set to test out. I am interested to see how it goes and performs. Last E30 had a custom GC setup and my E36 M3 has ASTs. Worst case I sell them and run something I know. I like to experiment though :)
