2 weeks is nothing. I waited for 1.5 years for a coilover kit on a Porsche 928. And it was supposed to be in stock.
A cam shop has had my cams for 6 months so far just to tell me if they can cut the base circle and reprofile on my 2V 928 motor.
I think everyone involved so far has been very efficient and effective.Comment

Interesting. My other car has 7s and 8s. 7s get 225 and 8s get 245s. The tire is in the correct position on the wheel so the rim protectors can work. OEM tire sizing for 8 inch wheels on Japanese and german vehicles is usually a 245. Individual sizing for what will fit IN the fender, however, can be a different story.235 is already wide and the most realistic. 245 is way oversized for the 8" wheel and will have a lot of sidewall deflection in turns (makes rolling the fender harder since the tire will move laterally back and forth more, so it will need additional rolling to prevent rubbing in hard cornering).
For all I know, the sizing availability could make the decision as well.Comment

If there was a decent choice in 225 I'd be running those without question.... but there's not, and I think the 215 is kinda small for the width, so I'll see what I can do to make 235's fit

The Falkens can't be beat. Great tire at a great price point. Keep in mind, anything Tire Rack lists will be $50 more once they get shipped so their prices really aren't THAT great...'89 325is S50 Track Montser

I am not necessarily talking crap about the Falkens, I've just heard nothing but negatives about them, and I have had positive experience with the star specs, and i've never heard a negative about the dunlops.
This is true.....
Also, if you guys have a Discount Tire close to you, then go there.... They will price match / beat anyone....

the dunlop z1 (star spec) is significantly better then the RT-615. Don't bother with that tire. it's old news. Teh star specs are the #1 rate wet summer tire. the 615's suck. The star specs are wider, and don't get greasy as early. If the few bucks is the deal breaker then go with them, but I would never bother with the hankook z212's or the falken rt-615's any more. To note i have personal, in addition to customer experience with all of these tires.
Buy tires from discounttiredirect.com or from them via ebay using live.com or bing.com to get the additional cash back savings. I recently received $60 cash back on my set of nt-01's when it was already the cheapest online. Add to that the dunlop rebate and your golden.Comment

Huh, Eddy do you mind divulging more on here or through PM? I never thought about using bing or live / ebay to get new tires from reputable sources for even cheaper.... I just used to work for Discount Tire, so I know, you can bring them anyone's ad and they'll usually price match or beat it....

lets say you wanted the new NT-05 tire in 235/40/17. If you purchase it online from discounttiredirect.com they cost $139 each with free shipping. If go to ebay and search for that tire, one of the sellers is discounttiredirect and they sell it there for $137.75 each with free shipping.Huh, Eddy do you mind divulging more on here or through PM? If you want to save a lot of money you go to bing.com and type in the search term "nitto tires". The second listing after American tires that comes up is a link to ebay with a "Bing cashback" symbol next to it. If you click on this link and make ANY ebay purchase (tires or a tv, or a canoe), you'll get 8% back on your purchase. To qualify you must check out using paypal within 1 hour of clicking through the link on bing.com, and it MUST be a "buy it now" format listing, it can't be a traditional auction. Ebay will show a "microsoft cashback" banner at the top while you are shopping. when you check out you are eligable to receive 8% back of the total order. You'll need a bing/microsoft account to receive your funds, and it takes up to 60 days to get it back, but it works 100% of the time on eligible purchases. I've received over $300 back on purchases so far without issues. in your account you just tell it your paypal email address and when you receive it, it will automatically deposit it into your paypal.
you can also seach for "microsoft cashback" to read more about it. but basically you'll get $44.08 deposited into your account if you purchase the nt-05's. I don't see 235/40/17 dunlops listed today, but if they were, they would also be eligable for the $60 cashback rebate I believe, since i read the terms and conditions on those before and ebay purchases are not excluded, as your buying it from discounttiredirect still.Comment

Cool, thanks for the info! By the way, has there been any test comparisons with the Nitto NT05s vs the Z1 stars? I've heard many many good things about the Z1s, and I know the NT01s are a favorite, but I know nothing about the NT05s.lets say you wanted the new NT-05 tire in 235/40/17. I've heard good things about the nittos from the Subaru crowd. I'm a sucker for the Star Specs though...
Thanks Eddy for mentioning that stuff, I've used Live.com and got a cashback when i ordered my headunit, just didn't know you could use it on tires or that discounttiredirect was an ebay distributor

Nitto NT01s and Dunlops would be on top, for the price. It is true that RT615s are old tires.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
