S14B25 has 87mm stroke and lotsa revs.

S54 is a warrantied mass production engine so there is obviously room to move

350whp@8000rpm with stock head surely an modified S50 can get close.

and that's exactly why i started looking at the euro engines. roughly 5k and its sitting at 321 hp, im sure some s54 person is going to punish me but its still cheaper than getting an s54 unless your one luck fu** like my friend who got one for $300. then theirs that whole 1000 tune thing. idk i wouldn't mind the s54, but budget wise i just can't see it for myself personally.
hell idk sometimes you just have to wing it. JW

S54 still seems like the way to go. Getting parts for the S50B32 here is damn near impossible, and if there is a cost savings in the end you would spend that and more just in trying to maintain it.

no way it's cheaper. parts for euro S50s are nearly unobtanium here.

$1000 tune? maybe 5 years ago..

S54 is far superior platform and better aftermarket parts selection

It has been a while since I looked at this thread. My m20 is a day away from turning 300k and it is very tired. I know where I can get an s52. Is that still the cheapest and easiest way to get some real power, or is the s54 swap well established now? I don't want to be a trail blazer on this. I am looking for something that I can follow the directions and plug it in.

S52 is definitely simpler but S54 isn't that hard these days and the price I think has come way down from say, 5 years ago.

                              This is the reality.

Do you want a grocery spec motor like In my 1998 m3? (S52)

Or a real motorsports motor (s54)

Hmmm, so these swaps are now being done regularly and have good instructions to follow? I can only imagine how quick those cars are.
